Basketball Recap: Clarksville's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to 12

Clarksville put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Kirkwood Cobras by a score of 41-28. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cobras, too.

Leading Clarksville to victory were Malon Smith and Mia Muiznieks. Smith posted 22 points and eight boards, while Muiznieks earned seven points and nine rebounds. Smith has been hot, having posted 18 or more points the last eight times she's played.

Clarksville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Kirkwood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kennedy Andrews had 11 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alanna Mays, who posted eight points.

Clarksville pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Kirkwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Clarksville is taking a road trip to take on Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kirkwood, they will host Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kirkwood is facing Northeast at the right time seeing as Northeast is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
