Recap: East Rowan Mustangs vs. South Rowan Raiders
This season hasn't been kind to The East Rowan Mustangs, who are still winless after their ninth match. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 32-13 to South Rowan. East Rowan was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Rowan apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Landon Richards was on fire for South Rowan: he rushed for 288 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Richards was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards.
East Rowan's loss was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Robinson and 11-2 Salisbury (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.6% over those games). As for South Rowan, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Rowan will take on West Rowan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Rowan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
