Basketball Recap: Jensen Beach's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Jensen Beach waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They managed a 58-52 win over the Sebastian River Sharks. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 52-47 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jensen Beach was led to victory by Jayla Brinkley and Danielle Bell. Brinkley dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards, while Bell posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Brinkley continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last six games she's played. Christen Bell was another key player, putting up four points.

Jensen Beach smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Sebastian River saw an underclassman step up: sophomore E'Mani Pryor went 11 of 15 en route to 24 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pryor has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Pickard, who scored 11 points and three steals.

Jensen Beach pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Sebastian River, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-5.

Jensen Beach and Sebastian River should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Jensen Beach (ranked 83rd) will meet Treasure Coast (ranked 204th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jensen Beach is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Sebastian River will face off against Melbourne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 150 places (111 vs. 261).
