Valley Oak League recap October 1, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Weston Ranch, who defeated 797th ranked Lathrop, 35-29. Chris Cannaday caught 9 passes for 209 yards in the win.
Kimball's Gaige Allen recorded the longest rushing play in Valley Oak League this season in his game against Sierra last week. Allen ran for 70 yards on the play and finished with 75 on the day as his team fell to the Timberwolves.
Jake Pruitt threw for 350 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Cannaday was the best receiver in the league this week as the Cougars topped the Spartans. Cannaday racked up 9 receptions for 209 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Pruitt and Reid Maestas, Sierra has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Pruitt is tops in the league in passing with 1,059 yards, while Maestas has rushed for 423 yards this season. Weston Ranch's Cannaday leads the league in receiving yards with 643 on 41 catches.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Seth Davis' team takes on Oakdale. The Cougars are currently in third, while the Mustangs are in fourth.
Fans got a thrill when Joe Menzel and Cannaday connected against Sonora. The connection went for 66 yards, the longest such play in Valley Oak League this season.
