Mabank had already won 13 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points) and they went ahead and made it 14 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 victory over the Brownsboro Bears. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Bears are ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mabank pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Brownsboro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8.

Mabank will head out on the road to square off against Canton at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Brownsboro and Van will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
