It was a good run, but Fort Scott unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 36-35 to the Independence Bulldogs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 240th).

Fort Scott's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 16-4. As for Independence, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12-2.

As of now, neither Fort Scott nor Independence have any future games scheduled.
