Baldwin has gone a perfect 3-0 against Yulee recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Indians will head out to face off against the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Baldwin 3.2, Yulee 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Baldwin is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since March 27th on Tuesday. They skirted past Middleburg 5-3.
Hayden Peebles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jazmine Ramos-Merced, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Izabella Screws, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Yulee has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.35 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Beachside 12-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.
Yulee let Jade Fisher and Ava Martyn run wild. Fisher went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run, while Martyn went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those four RBI gave Fisher a new career-high. Alani Goicoechea was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Baldwin has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Yulee, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
Everything went Baldwin's way against Yulee in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, as Baldwin made off with a 15-3 victory. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
