Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Lakewood Tigers beat the Standley Lake Gators 18-12 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Lakewood found their leader in sophomore Saylor Slaughter, who rushed for 94 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 226 yards and one TD. 89 of those passing yards were hauled in by Caroline Bane.

One reason for the win was Lakewood's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Victoria Carrillo. Slaughter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Lakewood's victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
