Baseball Game Preview: West Ashley Wildcats vs. Spring Valley Vikings

For the second straight game, West Ashley will face off against Spring Valley. The Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

West Ashley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Spring Valley 5-4.

For Spring Valley's part, Jayden Williams was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Williams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Spring Valley's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 3-1 (and 8-14 when he doesn't).

West Ashley pushed their record up to 11-17 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Valley, they moved to 11-15 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
