Basketball Game Preview: Rangely Panthers vs. Plateau Valley Cowboys

Rangely is 8-2 against Plateau Valley since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rangely Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Plateau Valley Cowboys at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It was a proper cat-fight when Rangely duked it out withNorth Park on Saturday. Rangely took their contest with ease, bagging a 72-22 victory over North Park. The Panthers' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Rangely's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Miah Wren, who posted 24 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. The matchup was Wren's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Emmeree Wagner, who went 7 for 12 en route to 18 points and seven boards.

Rangely smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, after only 24 points in their last contest, Plateau Valley made sure to put some points up on the board against Vail Mountain on Saturday. Plateau Valley blew past Vail Mountain 55-18. With the Cowboys ahead 34-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Rangely pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.1 points per game. As for Plateau Valley, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

Rangely strolled past Plateau Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 52-38. Will Rangely repeat their success, or does Plateau Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
