Baseball Game Preview: Asheboro Blue Comets vs. Central Davidson Spartans

The Asheboro Blue Comets will face off against the Central Davidson Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Asheboro will be strutting in after a victory while Central Davidson will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Asheboro turned things around against Leadership Academy on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Comets have posted since April 29, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Jacob Tevebaugh, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shane Immel, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Central Davidson's offense. They fell just short of Carson by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Spartans were not able to get on the board.

Central Davidson's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3. As for Asheboro, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.
