After each having a week off, the West Caldwell Warriors and the Newton-Conover Red Devils will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 13 consecutive losses dating back to last season for West Caldwell and seven for Newton-Conover dating back to last season.

Last Friday, West Caldwell took a blow against Hibriten, falling 38-8. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while the Panthers are ranked 165th).

Despite their loss, Newton-Conover saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Logan Adair, who threw for 154 yards and a touchdown on only 13 passes, and also punched in a rushing score, was perhaps the best of all.

West Caldwell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Newton-Conover, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-3.

West Caldwell took a serious blow against Newton-Conover when the teams last played back in September of 2023, falling 47-14. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Caldwell was down 40-0.
