Baseball Recap: Water Valley's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but Water Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Vardaman Rams by a score of 7-6. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

Allen Paysinger made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Luke Bynum also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Water Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Vardaman, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Water Valley will square off against Delta Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Water Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Vardaman, they will take on Smithville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vardaman is facing Smithville at the right time seeing as Smithville is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
