Soccer Recap: William Byrd Takes a Loss

After flying high against Fleming on Tuesday, William Byrd came back down to earth. The Terriers fell just short of the Franklin County Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, William Byrd can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Franklin County are ranked 14th).

William Byrd's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1. As for Franklin County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-0-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. William Byrd is set to square off against their familiar foe Lord Botetourt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Franklin County will face off against rival Staunton River at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
