Softball Recap: Foard Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Foard won against Statesville last Tuesday with 21 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Foard Tigers blew past the Statesville Greyhounds 21-1. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.

Karsyn Sigmon was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Livi Queen was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Rhoney, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2.

Foard hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Foard's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.5 runs. As for Statesville, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foard will challenge East Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Statesville, they will take on West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Statesville is facing West Iredell at the right time seeing as West Iredell is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
