Baseball Recap: Bishop Canevin Beats Clairton for Their Third Straight Win

Bishop Canevin entered their tilt with Clairton on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 18-5 margin over the Bears. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 on Tuesday.

Kole Olszewski and Tyler Maddix made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Olszewski pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Maddix struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Olszewski went 2-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run, while Maddix went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Maddix has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kellen Andruscik was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Bishop Canevin: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Aaryn Edwards was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Bishop Canevin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in five consecutive contests.

Bishop Canevin's record now sits at 8-4. As for Clairton, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9.
