Basketball Game Preview: Carlisle Thundering Herd vs. Chambersburg Trojans

Carlisle and Chambersburg are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Carlisle Thundering Herd will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chambersburg Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Carlisle's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.

Carlisle will head into Tuesday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 31) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Harrisburg out 57-55. Given the Thundering Herd's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Cougars are ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chambersburg). They put the hurt on Central Dauphin East with a sharp 86-65 victory on Tuesday. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season.

Chambersburg pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Carlisle, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Carlisle was able to grind out a solid win over Chambersburg in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 44-37. Does Carlisle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chambersburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
