Soccer Game Preview: Poway vs. San Marcos

The Poway Titans will square off against the San Marcos Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Poway: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while San Marcos has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Last Thursday, Poway didn't have quite enough to beat Mission Hills and fell 2-1. One thing that didn't help the Titans' chances was the red card they were dealt courtesy of Gavin Rose.

Meanwhile, San Marcos hadn't done well against Mt. Carmel recently (they were 0-3 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. San Marcos' defense stepped up to hand Mt. Carmel a 3-0 shutout. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Knights yet this season.

Poway's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for San Marcos, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Poway skirted past San Marcos 1-0 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Will Poway repeat their success, or does San Marcos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
