Softball Game Preview: Ardrey Kell Knights vs. Weddington Warriors

The Ardrey Kell Knights will face off against the Weddington Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Ardrey Kell barely beat Mallard Creek the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Ardrey Kell's pitchers stepped up to hand Mallard Creek a 17-0 shutout on Friday.

Carlin Scholz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Scholz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other pitching news, Amelia Hartley looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Reagan Martin was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Tessa Sanchez-Barrios, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Ardrey Kell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mallard Creek only posted a batting average of .214.

Meanwhile, Weddington put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Providence as Weddington made off with a 14-4 win.

Weddington's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ardrey Kell, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
