Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Campbell County). They put the hurt on the Jellico Blue Devils with a sharp 24-3 win on Saturday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Jake Lawson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four games. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Caden Idles was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Campbell County: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Riley Gunter, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
