Basketball Recap: Poteau Takes a Loss

Poteau lost against Checotah back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Poteau Pirates fell 51-39 to the Checotah Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Wildcats are ranked 174th).

Poteau has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Checotah, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

Poteau has already played their next game (against Sallisaw), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Checotah has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Stilwell.
