Softball Recap: Royal Takes a Loss

The Royal Knights didn't have quite enough to beat the Elma Eagles on Saturday and fell 5-4. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jill Allred spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Audrey Bergeson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Royal's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Elma, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Royal and Elma should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. The Knights will challenge Meridian at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (46 vs. 263). Meanwhile, Elma (ranked 77th) will meet Tenino (ranked 275th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
