After a string of four wins, Mauston's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to the Wisconsin Dells Chiefs. If the Golden Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Chiefs when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mauston might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on Wisconsin Dells: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22.

Lillyan Wilke paced Mauston's offense, picking up 14 kills. Wilke got some help from Rylea Mehne and her 18 assists. Ellie Pouillie controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Addison Sobojinski was the offensive standout of the match as she had 17 digs and three assists. That's the most assists she has posted over her last ten matchups.

Mauston's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 13-7. As for Wisconsin Dells, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-10.

Mauston and Wisconsin Dells should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Golden Eagles will take on Tri-County on Monday with a big rank advantage (138 vs. 351). Meanwhile, Wisconsin Dells (ranked 161st) will meet Nekoosa (ranked 398th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
