Baseball Game Preview: Azle Christian Fighting Crusaders vs. Bethesda Christian Lions

For the second straight game, Azle Christian will face off against Bethesda Christian. The Fighting Crusaders will challenge the Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Azle Christian has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Bethesda Christian will arrive with three straight victories.

Azle Christian fell victim to Bethesda Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Lions.

For Bethesda Christian's part, Corbin Gonzales was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Gonzales also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bethesda Christian is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise. Gonzales was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jayden Myers was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Matthew Benson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

The win got Bethesda Christian back to even at 8-8. As for Azle Christian, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
