Softball Game Preview: Anderson Cubs vs. Lassen Grizzlies

Anderson is 0-10 against Lassen since May of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Cubs will host the Grizzlies at 4:30 p.m. Anderson has given up an average of 17.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Anderson is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against University Prep, falling 16-1.

Anderson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominique Crandall, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Crandall has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Lassen had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Grizzlies have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lassen pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Anderson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Anderson might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Lassen in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Cubs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
