Softball Game Preview: Elmwood Royals vs. Archbold Blue Streaks

The Elmwood Royals will face off against the Archbold Blue Streaks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Elmwood comes in on three and Archbold on seven.

On Wednesday, Elmwood got the win against Riverdale by a conclusive 19-2. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by nine runs or more this season.

Allyie Reynolds and Addi Hoffman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Reynolds tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Hoffman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Reynolds went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Hoffman went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Hoffman has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Elmwood let Leah Allison and Libbie Tyson run wild. Allison went 3-for-4 with seven RBI and two doubles, while Tyson went 2-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Tyson continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Campbell, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.

Archbold came out on top against Liberty Center on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Blue Streaks were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Blue Streaks, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Archbold's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Elmwood, their record now sits at 12-6.
