The River Ridge Hawks will take on the Silas Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. River Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.9 runs per game this season.
On Friday, River Ridge made easy work of Capital and carried off a 15-3 win. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Raylie Birklid made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, River Ridge let Lahtecia Garduno Hatch and Sophia Rodriguez run wild. Garduno Hatch got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Rodriguez went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Rodriguez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lana Trinidad, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
River Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Silas was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They came up short against Peninsula, falling 7-1. The game marked the Rams' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Natalie Medalia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Silas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cailey Howell, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
River Ridge's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Silas, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. River Ridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .525. However, it's not like Silas struggles in that department as they've averaged .530. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
River Ridge took their victory against Silas when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
