Baseball Recap: Millard South Wins High-Profile Match Against Omaha Westside

Millard South faced Omaha Westside in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Patriots blew past the Warriors 16-6. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Millard South got a great performance from Jackson Corey as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Corey has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Braden Swaney was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Perich, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Millard South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha Westside only posted an OBP of .400.

Millard South's record now sits at 20-9. As for Omaha Westside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.
