Recap: Montgomery Bears vs. Lamar Consolidated Mustangs
The Montgomery Bears''s nine-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 52-20 win over Lamar Consolidated on the road. The victory was just what Montgomery needed coming off of a 56-28 loss in their prior game.
Reggie Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 128 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, while also throwing for 219 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes. Williams was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Montgomery also got help from Talan Shavers who showed off his sure hands for 106 receiving yards.
When it comes to explaining why Lamar Consolidated lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nathan Lowther. Despite the final result, he rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 131 yards and a touchdown.
Montgomery's win bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Lamar Consolidated, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8.
Montgomery will take on Rudder at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Rudder is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Lamar Consolidated does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
