Football Recap: Mead Starts off Right with Win over Weeping Water

Mead took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 22-14 win over the Weeping Water Indians. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 16-14 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Mead can attribute much of their success to Mason Reed, who threw for 148 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 33 yards and one score.

Mead didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Preston Price and Tony Engel.

When it comes to explaining why Weeping Water lost, don't look at Tucker Bickford. Despite the final result, he rushed for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Bickford also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making 11 total tackles and defending one pass.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mead will venture away from home to challenge David City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Weeping Water, they will head out to take on Giltner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
