Softball Recap: East Chapel Hill Wins Going Away Against Hillside

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Jordan, East Chapel Hill was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Hillside Hornets 18-0. Considering the Wildcats have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tesla Goldstein was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Lauren Steiner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with five RBI and two runs.

East Chapel Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillside only posted an OBP of .167.

East Chapel Hill has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Hillside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

East Chapel Hill will challenge Riverside-Durham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hillside, they will square off against Chapel Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
