Baseball Recap: La Joya Gets the Win

La Joya came out on top against Mission on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Coyotes took their matchup against the Eagles 8-3. The victory continues a trend for the Coyotes in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.

Samuel De Leon and Gael Zambrano did most of the damage at the plate: De Leon went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double, while Zambrano got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Zambrano has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Axel Pulido, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

La Joya's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Mission, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

La Joya has already played their next game, a 5-1 victory against Harlingen on the 20th. As for Mission, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-3 loss against McAllen Memorial on the 20th.
