Basketball Recap: Geneva Knights vs. First Academy Eagles
The Geneva Knights were the 52-48 winner over the First Academy Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between Geneva and the Eagles wasn't particularly close, with the Knights falling 71-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
First Academy was led to victory by Rhett Walsh and Amari Smith. Walsh scored 25 points along with six steals and five rebounds, while Smith dropped a double-double on 17 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walsh has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bryce Norflee, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Geneva's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for First Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.
Geneva won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. City of Life Christian Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for First Academy, they will take on the Wildcats at TBD on Tuesday.
