Football Recap: Cuero Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory + How To Watch

Cuero extended their postseason success on Friday against Rockport-Fulton. They were the clear victors by a 48-27 margin over the Pirates. Considering the Gobblers have won six matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cuero had a senior duo take command as Jaxxon Marie threw for 257 yards and two TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes and Walker Dietze picked up 135 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Cuero didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Rockport-Fulton to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Gobblers have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.65 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.65 in their last three games.

Cuero didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Aiden Strecker, Jordan Jones, and Jossiah Taylor picked up one apiece.

Rockport-Fulton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Traey Alvarado, who rushed for 141 yards and two scores on only 12 carries. Alvarado's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 120 rushing yards. Another rusher making a difference was Jaxon Keown, who rushed for 72 yards and one TD.

The win was the sixth in a row for Cuero, bringing their record up to 12-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.7 points over those games. As for Rockport-Fulton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Coming up, Cuero will face off against Sinton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 937 yards in their previous games. Rockport-Fulton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
