Football Game Preview: Brown County Hornets vs. Calhoun/Brussels Warriors

The Brown County Hornets will challenge the Calhoun/Brussels Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Brown County sitting on three straight wins and Calhoun/Brussels on 12.

Brown County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Carrollton 37-13. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won nine contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Calhoun/Brussels was able to grind out a solid victory over Casey-Westfield on Saturday, taking the game 28-21. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Calhoun/Brussels' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Casey-Westfield is ranked 135th).

One reason for the win was Calhoun/Brussels' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Tommy Roth was the leader with two.

Brown County's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Calhoun/Brussels, their victory bumped their record up to 12-0.

Brown County couldn't quite get it done against Calhoun/Brussels when the teams last played back in October as they fell 21-12. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
