Baseball Recap: Rimrock Raiders vs. North Star Huskies
Rimrock had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 0-6 to make it nine. They lost 30-3 to the North Star Huskies. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 20-0 to the Huskies when the teams met back in March of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Rimrock saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kas Bachman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Bachman has hit this season. Trevor Carothers was another, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases.
As for North Star, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.
On North Star's side, Carlos Guzman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Guzman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Luke Fox was a standout: he got on base in all six of his plate appearances with five runs, three RBI, and one triple. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson McReynolds, who went 5-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Rimrock has already played their next game, a 15-1 win against Gem State Adventist Academy on the 15th. As for North Star, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-5 victory against Glenns Ferry on the 14th.
