Basketball Recap: Stranahan Sets Scoring Season-High Against Western

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stranahan). They were the clear victors by an 81-59 margin over the Western Wildcats on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Mighty Dragons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Western's loss came despite strong showings from Gavyn Nelson and Jovan Rodriguez. Nelson went 7-for-9 to rack up 14 points, while Rodriguez posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Calvin Thompson, who put up six points and three steals.

The win got Stranahan back to even at 4-4. As for Western, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Stranahan will be playing at home against Calvary Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mighty Dragons will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Western, they are taking a road trip to take on Blanche Ely at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
