Volleyball Recap: Rice Bulldogs vs. Maypearl Panthers
Rice was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Maypearl Panthers, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.
While Rice was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Maypearl's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-14, 25-20.
Maypearl can attribute much of their success to Avery Stinedurf, who had 13 digs and two assists. Those two assists gave Stinedurf a new career-high. Caroline Rendahl also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Rice's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Maypearl, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-15 record.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Rice is set to face off against their familiar foe Blooming Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Maypearl will square off against rival Palmer at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
