Softball Game Preview: McDowell Titans vs. Smoky Mountain Mustangs

The McDowell Titans will face off against the Smoky Mountain Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither McDowell nor Smoky Mountain posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

After dropping their season opener at home, Smoky Mountain is headed out to face a Titans squad ready to give their home crowd a win. McDowell fell just short of Crest by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Smoky Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Swain County, falling 12-2.

Everything went McDowell's way against Smoky Mountain in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as McDowell made off with a 16-1 win. Does McDowell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Smoky Mountain turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
