Softball Recap: Westview Extends Winning Streak to Three

Westview had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt West Noble on Tuesday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 21-7 margin over the Chargers. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won three contests in a row.

Janissa Lehman was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Lehman was even better at the plate, going 5-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ava Gilbert was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Kaufman, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Westview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Westview's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for West Noble, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Westview didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-0 defeat against Central Noble on the 23rd. As for West Noble, they have also already played their next game, a 15-1 loss against Churubusco on the 24th.
