Softball Game Preview: Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels vs. Dyer County Choctaws

For the second straight game, Tipton-Rosemark Academy will face off against Dyer County. Tipton-Rosemark Academy will head out on the road to face off against Dyer County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tipton-Rosemark Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Tipton-Rosemark Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Dyer County. They had just enough and edged out the Choctaws 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Rebels considering their two-run performance the match before.

Lanie Howe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched nine innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Howe was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten contests.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Sykes, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Allie Nicholas also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Tipton-Rosemark Academy pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 6.75 strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.25 in the others. As for Dyer County, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2.
