Baseball Recap: Buckeye Hawks vs. ALA - West Foothills Guardians
Buckeye extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 2-8. They lost 17-7 to the ALA - West Foothills Guardians. If the Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 7-2 to the Guardians when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Buckeye saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Villegas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Mason Bolles also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
As for ALA - West Foothills, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5. The result was nothing new for the Guardians, who have now won seven contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
On ALA - West Foothills' side, Logan Alvarez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Alvarez a new career-high. Brody Taylor was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Coming up, Buckeye will square off against Youngker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for ALA - West Foothills, they will head out on the road to face off against Florence at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Guardians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gophers have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
