Football Recap: Easton Branam and Jaxon Brown Secure Win for Bells

It was a proper cat-fight when Bells took on Blue Ridge on Friday. The Panthers took down the Tigers 45-28. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 33-15 defeat the last time these two teams met.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jaxon Brown and Easton Branam. Brown rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns while Branam rushed for 124 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries. What's more, Branam posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Bells was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 376 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 176 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

One reason for the win was Bells' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Caden King was especially locked on to Blue Ridge's QB and sacked him twice.

When it comes to explaining why Blue Ridge lost, don't look at Jacob Walker. Despite the final result, he rushed for 132 yards on only eight carries.

Bells' record now sits at 3-5. As for Blue Ridge, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.

Coming up, Bells will challenge S & S Consolidated at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.29 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Blue Ridge, they will face off against Gunter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gunter will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Blue Ridge surely won't give up without a fight.
