Softball Recap: Doherty Memorial Comes Up Short

Doherty Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They lost 9-3 to the Bay Path RVT Minutemen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Minutemen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 back in April.

Sarah DeFusco was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

Doherty Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Bay Path RVT, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-9.

Coming up, Doherty Memorial will venture away from home to square off against Blackstone Valley RVT at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Beavers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.56 runs per game on average), something the Hilanders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bay Path RVT, they will host Montachusett RVT at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
