Softball Game Preview: Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg vs. North Clay/Clay City

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg are taking a road trip to take on North Clay/Clay City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg has five straight wins, North Clay/Clay City has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Brownstown/St. Elmo. Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Kendra Hayes and Samantha Hayes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hayes tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Samantha pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Hayes went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Samantha went 1-for-2 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Cameron Carey was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaira Friese, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, North Clay/Clay City didn't have quite enough to beat Dieterich on Tuesday and fell 4-2.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for North Clay/Clay City, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
