Marquette faced Eureka in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Wildcats. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Marquette not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Eureka between 17 and 19 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-19, 25-17.

Noah Landewe paced Marquette's offense, picking up 11 kills. Landewe got some help from Alex Danyluck and his 21 assists. Danyluck was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Marquette has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Eureka, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-6.

Marquette has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Fort Zumwalt North on the 25th. As for Eureka, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Parkway Central at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The Colts will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
