Stevenson had already won 17 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it 18 on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees a 17-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Aubrey Jepson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Shimanski, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Stevenson's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Zion-Benton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13-1 record this season.

Stevenson will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Lake Zurich at 4:45 p.m. The last three games the Bears have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Zion-Benton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
