Westlake scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Huntingtown, 14-7. At the time, the Hurricanes were ranked 13th in the state, while the Wolverines were 33rd.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Westlake, who took down 13th ranked Huntingtown, 14-7. Michael Brooks ran for 101 yards and caught one passes for seven yards in the win.
Patuxent's dynamic duo of Travez Lee and Laron Gross proved tough for McDonough to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lee threw for 73 yards and one touchdown and Gross had 83 yards receiving. Rafiq Douglas helped Patuxent's passing attack out by catching one ball for eight yards.
Marquel Dickerson was the most productive running back in Southern Maryland this week. He ran for 282 yards on 34 carries as North Point beat the Rams. Teammate Brandon Battle added to the ground attack by rushing for two yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Battle of the Eagles is the league leader in passing yards this season with 937. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, Leonardtown's Stephen Stewart has rushed for 1101 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is James Harrell. The McDonough star has 26 catches for 572 yards.
Lee of the Patuxent is only 10 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Lee has rushed for 990 yards on 104 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Steve Crounse's team takes on the Cavaliers. The Panthers are in first place, while Calvert is in fifth place.
Marlon Curtis' team was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Brendan Galligan's team. The Wolverines came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 33 last week.
