Softball Recap: Mead Mavericks vs. Palisade Bulldogs
Mead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of the Palisade Bulldogs by a score of 8-7. That's two games in a row now that the Mavericks have lost by just one run.
Halie Gippe made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Julianne Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Even though they lost, Mead didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with six strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've posted since back in August of 2023.
Mead's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Palisade, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Rocky Mountain the next time they take the field. Palisade will head out to face Rocky Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Mead will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
