Basketball Recap: East Wilkes Takes a Loss

East Wilkes was the 55-48 winner over Alleghany when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The East Wilkes Cardinals took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alleghany Trojans on Wednesday. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Colby Crouse was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 11 to rack up 18 points and seven rebounds for Alleghany. With that strong performance, Crouse is now averaging an impressive 15 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of John LeMasters, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards.

East Wilkes' defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Alleghany, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-9.

East Wilkes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-53 victory against North Stokes on the 7th. As for Alleghany, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 64-55 loss against Elkin on the 7th.
